Bên cạnh lỗi không phát âm đuôi, thì nhấn âm sai cũng là điều gây khó hiểu cho người bản xứ. Vậy có cách nào dễ phân biệt từ nào nhấn âm tiết nào hay không? Xin trả lời là có và còn chờ gì nữa mà ko khám phá thôi!!!

Đối với từ có 2 âm tiết

Noun/ Adjective: hầu hết đều nhấn âm thứ nhất. E.g.: ʹtoothbrush, ʹsystem, ʹeffort, ʹinstant,…

Verb: hầu hết được nhấn âm thứ hai.  E.g.: arʹrive, atʹtend, exʹport, preʹvent,…

Đối với từ có ba âm tiết trở lên

Nhấn âm thứ hai từ sau đếm lên với những hậu tố:

–ic: meʹchanic, ecoʹnomic, diploʹmatic,..

–tion/-sion: ʹnation, eduʹcation, inforʹmation, teleʹvision,..

–ian: muʹsician, ciʹvilian, coʹmedian,…

–ive: exʹpensive, imʹpressive, atʹtractive,..

–eous: advanʹtageous, couʹrageous,…

Nhấn ngay trên chính hậu tố đó:

–ee : interviewee, absentee,…

–eer: engineer, mountaineer,…

–ese: Japanese, Vietnamese,…

–ette: cigarette, marionette,…

–esque: picturesque, Romanesque,…

Chú ý: Các hậu tố như –er,-or,-ment, -ly, -ing, -ize, -ful, -less,-ful, -al, – ish,... không làm thay đổi trọng âm của từ.
